Consultancy

Our consultancy service includes health checks, strategy development, process improvement and selection, procurement support and implementation of technology based solutions. All of our services incorporate best practice in relation to information management and change management.

Core Services

IFC Health Checks are designed to address how organisations are using information and the key risk areas that may exist. Their aim is to provide assurance that key issues will not be lost or omitted and provide management with a clear and concise understanding and visibility of the true priorities, which may prevent unnecessary expenditure of time and money on low-risk issues.

The level and coverage can be adapted for those who have made progress with their compliance regimes but are concerned about areas they may have missed; and for those who have completed assessments and need an independent view of their position. The outputs from the review provide the organisation with risk mitigation plan to assist in the on-going management of on-going compliance.

Organisations are facing ever-increasing challenges, brought on by economic and market forces to make more efficient use of their assets.  Due to the nature of the workplace the knowledge that organisations can access to increase the productivity and success of businesses is critical.  Many organisations are now looking to information and knowledge management (IKM) to address these challenges. Such initiatives are often started with the development of a strategy.

The strategy must do more than just outline high-level goals such as "become an information enabled organisation".  Our approach to strategy development identifies the key needs and issues within the organisation, and provides a framework for addressing these. Our approach also identifies the inter-relationships between people, roles and responsibilities, information, expertise, and the drivers and strategic goals of the organisation.

This approach gives us a clear understanding of the existing Knowledge Management culture, systems, processes and expectation, which require close collaboration with the various teams as well as interviewing key stakeholders and decision makers within the organisation.

IFC recognise and support the establishment of robust management information and knowledge management framework containing the following elements:

  • A set of clear corporate expectations for how information and knowledge will be managed in the organisation, including accountabilities for ownership, and the definition of corporate standards for Information and Knowledge Management, including the development and formulation of IKM policies and procedures.
  • A Management system, providing the means by which Information and knowledge can be managed. This is not just an IT system, but a holistic management system, which will include roles and responsibilities for Information and Knowledge Management
  • Processes for capturing, organizing, accessing and communicating information and knowledge.
  • Technologies for capturing, organizing, accessing and communicating information and knowledge.
  • Processes and organisational structures to ensure monitoring and measuring the application of IKM, to make sure that people are delivering on their accountabilities, and applying the system in the way that they are expected to, to identify the need for new interventions to improve the IKM system, and to ensure a continuous improvement in the ability of the organization to manage strategic information and knowledge.

Our consultants support the establishment and enhancement of these frameworks through the development of pragmatic policy, procedures and changes to process.

We have a strong rounded understanding of capabilities and limitations of Electronic Document Records Management System (EDRMS) and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) which allows us to provide impartial advice to clients on their technology needs to support Corporate Information Management (CIM) programmes.
